ERC-8004 — trustless agent identity.
ERC-8004 proposes a shared, on-chain layer for trustless agents: persistent identity, reputation, and validation attestations that any counterparty can query before transacting. The goal is to let autonomous agents establish trust without a central operator — counterparties evaluate identity and reputation directly from the chain.

What the proposal covers
Why identity matters for autonomous agents
Without a shared identity layer, every agent marketplace reinvents trust from scratch — opaque ratings, walled reputation graphs, and operator-locked identity. ERC-8004 aims to make identity and reputation portable and queryable on-chain, so an agent's history follows it across services and counterparties can price risk accurately before they pay.
How UTON uses it
UTON's agent infrastructure is designed around an ERC-8004-shaped identity layer: agents register once, accumulate reputation as they transact, and present validation attestations (from TEEs or zkML) when their work must be trusted. Because the registries are on-chain, an agent's trust footprint is verifiable by anyone — not asserted by a single operator.
ERC-8004 is a draft standard. Its status is tracked and may be updated by administrators as the proposal evolves. Do not treat it as finalized unless its status changes.
